The hotel has replaced an older 1970´s office building which could not been rebuilt. The design concept reflects the needs to respect the historic context of the Prague Old Town but also the contemporary environment of a modern and lively city center with city palaces, cafes, restaurants and shops open to the street. The entire ground floor of the hotel features a city café and a restaurant and opens to the street with the help of large-scale vertical glass slides.
The hotel is capped by a unique full-faced technological façade – the bodywork – in a profile elastically shaped. The façade is automatically shielded by textile motorized awnings, depending on the intensity of sunlight, which pull themselves at high wind speeds. The windows automatically close when the guest stays in the rain or leaves the room, heating and cooling are controlled when they are opened. Throughout the entire glazing, the hotel offers exclusive views of the city. Also, thanks to the multilayered facade, the house intensively participates in the varied events on one of Prague’s most prominent streets.
