The architectural competition was held for the completion and reconstruction of the town sports complex in Chrudim. The complex gradually grew around a former gymnasium of the Sokol movement. The original face of the Sokol House was completely erased by insensitive reconstructions during the sixties and eighties of the twentieth century.
Our suggestion was that the operational and troubled Sokol House should be demolished and replaced with a new building in the same trail along Opletalova Street. The front glazed gym on its floor should be the symbolic head of the house and of the whole area. Below it was an indoor public admission area. The new tract with the auditorium of the hall, the café and the hotel would fill the existing unused yard. The historic house would again become independent. Lightweight and transparent new buildings were designed to add to older buildings. The interconnection should allow logical and simple indoor operation of the site.
