The park by the river Malše is part of the city-wide network of green river banks. It was created from the former garden of a nearby public house and, with its beautiful large trees, it is an ideal resting place in the close vicinity of the historic center, schools and other important public buildings.

However, the full use of the park was prevented by the frequented cycle path along the water and also by an inappropriately located steam pipe. Like many other public spaces, the park suffered from lack of maintenance and inappropriate detailing. The goal of the architectural competition was to cultivate the park and open access to the water.

In its new form, the park is open to the river along its entire length. By diverting the bike path further from the river, space was freed up for a new residential corso with stone paving and a seating edge made of concrete prefabs. A linear children’s playground made of modular elements is located above the route of the steam pipeline. The original mature trees were preserved and supplemented with new ones. The park also received new furniture and lighting.
